The Non-cook
by comparison
non-Cook

The Non-Cook by Comparison Non-Cook is the person who thinks of himself as a non-cook, or at least a vastly inferior cook with near non-cook status, because he is comparing his cooking skills to those of a parent, spouse, or friend. As in: “My mom is an incredible cook! I can make a few things but I could never be like her,” or “I used to think I could cook before I married Bob.” With the rise of food and cooking culture, and the pervading presence of it throughout contemporary media, Non-Cook by Comparison comparative behavior has seen a sharp increase. Now you don’t even have to know the person to whom you are comparing yourself. Now, you can compare yourself to celebrity chefs and cooking personalities, and even regular celebrities who have become cooking personalities, too. While this trend has served to swell non-cook numbers, it has done little for non-cook self esteem. And what’s the use of a non-cook army that has no confidence?  Sometimes I fear that the non-cook revolution will never come.
